Litter of Hope

Providing tornado relief on Operation: Red Hills, Air Force veteran Aimee Sherrod was conducting door-to-door assessments in a hard-hit neighborhood in Louisville, MS. She and her teammate pulled up to a severely damaged home where a mother had died while shielding her 24-year-old daughter.

Upon arrival, a bright spot: a litter of puppies poured out from under a crate, ran in her direction, and greeted her with wagging tails. She soon learned all of the pups were available for adoption, and now, she’s considering taking one home to Jackson, TN to join her family, which includes an 8, 5, and 2-year-old.

Air Force veteran Aimee Sherrod made a new friend and potential family member on Operation: Red Hills.

While many TR members love to swing a sledge and get dirty, in the end, it’s all about service and helping people who often don’t have the time or manpower to help themselves immediately after a disaster. Aimee didn’t just write up a work order today, she played a big role in getting a family back on their feet and possibly expanding upon her own.
