Veteran-led Team Rubicon Wrapping Up Hurricane Florence Response Operations in North Carolina

DALLAS (Nov. 28, 2018) – Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster response organization, is wrapping up its Hurricane Florence response operations in North Carolina. In all, Team Rubicon launched a total of six operations to provide hurricane response and recovery support to North Carolina residents located in the areas of Wilmington, New Bern, Lumberton, Rose Hill, Jacksonville, and Goldsboro.

Working in conjunction with state and local authorities, Team Rubicon volunteers mucked and gutted flooded homes, conducted sawyer operations to remove fallen trees, tarped damaged roofs, and used heavy equipment to remove storm debris.

“Hurricane Florence was a devastating storm that downed trees and power lines and dropped a historic amount of rain in North Carolina – leading to widespread flooding,” said William Porter, National Planning Manager at Team Rubicon. “Once again, our members selflessly answered the call and have stepped into the arena to serve those impacted by this storm.”

Cumulatively in North Carolina, Team Rubicon volunteers completed 600 work orders and contributed 67,010 work hours – assisting 1,126 individual family members and delivering $1,933,372.52 in volunteer labor impact and community cost-savings.

“Team Rubicon launched our largest operation to date in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and one year later, we’re still rebuilding homes in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico,” said Co-founder and CEO Jake Wood. “Our teams have been hard at work serving those affected by Hurricane Florence and are grateful for the trust and support of the public’s hard-earned dollars to do so.”
