On Tuesday, April 12, Team Rubicon hosted the 2016 New York City Salute to Service Awards. It’s a special night, created to honor some of the most outstanding partners of Team Rubicon who support veterans.
Team Rubicon and Team Depot volunteers turned the 69th Regiment Armory in Manhattan into a mock Team Rubicon FOB (Forward Operating Base), complete with skid steers, an Alaska tent, chainsaw kits, tech station, and a beer cooler or two. Willie Geist, Host of NBC’s “Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist,” Co-host, NBC’s “TODAY” and Co-host, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, was the evening’s emcee and John Oliver, host of “Last Week Tonight”, provided entertainment.
The PwC Charitable Foundation was presented with Team Rubicon’s 2016 Commitment to Service Award for their outstanding support for our veterans. Since 2012, the PwC Charitable Foundation and the people of PwC have financially supported the deployment of Team Rubicon’s volunteers to areas devastated by disaster. The Foundation is also a direct sponsor of TR’s Ready Reserve, which increases the efficiency and capacity of Team Rubicon’s disaster response efforts to more proactively support disaster victims and support national operations.
By providing our supporters and partners to get a feel for a Team Rubicon disaster response operation while rubbing shoulders with Team Rubicon Region II members and national staff, we hope to raise the funds we need to keep the Team Rubicon disaster response machine humming.
Thanks to the outstanding support of our sponsors and the generosity of the attendees, Team Rubicon netted nearly $450,000 to fund our disaster response operations.
