Service Without Pause: Team Rubicon’s 2025 Impact and Year in Review

Julie H. Case

Greyshirts go big in 2025, delivering more than $9.35 million in volunteer labor value and impacting more than 500,000 people.

In 2025, disasters did not wait—and neither did Team Rubicon. From coastlines to heartland communities, Greyshirts showed up again and again to meet urgent needs, restore stability, and stand shoulder to shoulder with neighbors navigating their hardest days. From January 1 to December 11, 2025, the impact of that service was unmistakable: more than 500,000 people were impacted across 825 communities, powered by a volunteer force that delivered help with speed, skill, and compassion.

Responding When It Matters Most

From our first disaster response operations—responding to wildfires in California—to our response to the Texas floods, to our final mitigation operation of the year at Arizona’s Camp Tontozona, which provides foster kids with a safe, nurturing environment, Team Rubicon completed 78 disaster response operations by December 11.

Greyshirts served on operations across 23 states, mobilizing quickly to support communities affected by storms, flooding, wildfires, and other emergencies. Each operation reflected the organization’s commitment to disciplined, veteran-led response—bringing structure to chaos and practical help where it was needed most.

Operations were ongoing in December, too, including Team Rubicon’s response to Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica and multiple operations responding to atmospheric flooding in Washington State.

Team Rubicon 2025 Impact: Service Beyond the Disaster Zone

Beyond operations, Greyshirts extended their reach through 596 service projects, tackling everything from debris removal and home repairs to community preparedness and resilience-building efforts. These projects often bridged the gap between immediate response and long-term recovery, ensuring communities weren’t left to rebuild alone.

In 2025, Team Rubicon also completed 1,173 engagements—non-operational, non-service project events that strengthened partnerships, expanded awareness, and reinforced the culture of service that defines the organization. These engagements helped connect communities, supporters, and volunteers to Team Rubicon’s mission, laying the groundwork for future responses.

Altogether, Greyshirts completed 2,104 activities this year—each one a tangible expression of service, readiness, and commitment.

Investing in Readiness and Recovery

Preparedness remains core to Team Rubicon’s effectiveness. In 2025, the organization issued 8,341 training certifications, ensuring Greyshirts were equipped with the skills needed to operate safely and effectively in complex environments. This investment in training strengthens every future response.

Long-term recovery continued to be a critical focus as well. Through sustained, community-centered work, Team Rubicon completed 40 homes, helping families move from temporary fixes to lasting stability. Each completed home represented more than construction—it marked a step toward normalcy for families rebuilding their lives.

More Than $9 Million in Labor Value, Powered by Volunteers

None of this work would be possible without Greyshirts. In 2025, volunteers contributed 231,607 hours of service, representing a $9.38 million volunteer labor value. More importantly, those hours reflected countless moments of leadership, teamwork, and human connection—neighbors helping neighbors, often in the wake of loss.

Looking Ahead

As 2025 draws to a close, the numbers tell a powerful story—but they don’t capture every handshake, every cleared driveway, or every family able to return home because someone showed up to help. Team Rubicon enters the new year grounded in experience, strengthened by training, and ready to respond wherever the next call for service comes.

Because when disasters strike, service does not pause—and neither do the Greyshirts who answer the call.
