What Is Go Day?
Go Day is a challenge. On January 13, 2010, a small group of military veterans and first responders chose action over hesitation, changing disaster relief forever.
Go Day honors their decision by asking more people to do the same in their own way, with the skills and time they have. This isn’t about looking back. It’s about stepping forward. If you’ve ever thought someone should do something, this is the moment to raise your hand and go.
Who Can Be a Greyshirt?
Greyshirts come from every background and every walk of life, united simply by their willingness to step up when help is needed.
Some deploy to disaster zones. Others support operations remotely or serve locally in their own communities. You don’t need prior disaster experience. Just the willingness to learn. If you’re built to act, you belong here.

What You’ll Do as a Greyshirt
-
This isn’t symbolic service. It’s hands-on work that makes a real difference.
As a Greyshirt volunteer, you might: -
In the field
Do hands-on work that helps communities recover, from clearing debris and mucking out homes to tarping roofs and supporting response operations. -
Remotely
Keep the work moving by supporting planning, coordination, communications, and professional needs from home. -
Year-round
Train, plug in where your skills are needed, and stay connected to a community built to serve.
