On the afternoon of December 23, at least five tornadoes impacted Region IV, including one in the state of Mississippi.

Extensive damage was reported to homes and businesses. A reconnaissance team was dispatched to Columbia, MS to confirm about 80 properties sustained significant damage, and so Region IV will conduct a response to assist with recovery efforts.

Team Rubicon’s task force will provide incident management assistance, spontaneous volunteer coordination, and debris removal services to affected communities in coordination with local and state authorities.

Members within 300 miles of Columbia, MS should ensure their volunteer profiles are completed through Roll Call to receive further instruction. Those who wish to support the operation remotely can do so by backing up the team in the field with a financial donation.
