Last month, Team Rubicon UK launched Operation Nirman to rebuild a school and restore services in Central Nepal damaged by last year’s devastating earthquake. TR members from the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Canada, and Germany are currently deployed, and the team just gained another well-known Greyshirt in the field – Prince Harry.
In a press release issued by the Kensington Palace, Prince Harry of Wales spent the next week camping in the mountains with the team and will play a full role in the support project.
Prince Harry added, “The people I have met and the beauty of this country make it very hard to leave. Thankfully however, I’m not leaving just yet! I will be spending the next six days in a remote region with a charity called Team Rubicon. The team I’m joining will be working with the community to rebuild a school damaged in the earthquake. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity at the end of my official tour to do my small bit to help.”
“It’s exciting to have Prince Harry, a soldier and humanitarian, represent Team Rubicon in the field,” said TR USA CEO Jake Wood. “It’s also impressive to watch TR UK grow in its capabilities to respond to disasters on the other side of the world while seamlessly integrating fellow members from multiple countries.”
Team Rubicon UK, a registered British charity launched by Team Rubicon Global in 2015, is the first new Team Rubicon since the founding of Team Rubicon USA in 2010.
