Last week, several Team Rubicon members attended the 23rd Annual National VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters) Conference in New Orleans. Emergency management representatives from across the country gathered under one roof to shake hands, share best practices, and foster new ideas after sampling some of the city’s finest gumbo.
In addition to reconnecting with partners outside of disaster zones, TR Director of Field Operations David Burke was appointed to the NVOAD Board of Directors to serve the final year of John Robinson’s term, who is retiring from his role of U.S. Disaster Services at Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Burke added,
“I’m excited to be appointed to the board of NVOAD to fulfill the remaining year of John Robison’s seat. Congrats on the retirement, John. We had our first board meeting Friday, and I will be serving as liaison to the Technology Task Force and Volunteer Management Committee. I look forward to support NVOAD in their implementation and adoption of Palantir’s generous donation. Most of all, I’m excited to work hard to fully understand and represent the best interest of all member organizations.”
Time well spent in Louisiana. Looking forward to tackling disaster relief alongside our VOAD partners in the ring.
