Team Rubicon Veterans help Vietnam Vet
Larry and his wife Mary Lynn were amazed at the quick response from TR. After seeing TR on NBC Nightly News, Larry, who recently had detached retina surgery and can’t do much physical activity, emailed TR asking for help. This morning, he saw a response saying TR would be at his home at 0800. “it’s unreal,” he said, with tears in his eyes. “seeing all these guys who already served so much, come help us – it’s a wonderful deal.” Larry was in the 52nd airborne pathfinder detachment – a branch of the 52nd combat aviation battalion in Vietnam. He and Mary Lynn are both retired and said they feel “guilty” their home received fairly little damage as compared to other homes in the area. TR was thrilled to help this Salt Dog and his sweet wife after the storm.
Guys and gals, it’s because they’re family. Haven’t you noticed that yet? For all military, veterans and their families, once military, always military (Sorry for the Marines, but that ‘borrowed’ and altered phrase is so true for all). Even for the families – spouses and kids alike – you are closer to military folks than most of your extended families. Heck, I have relatives that I barely know, and in some cases have never met. Still friends with other ‘brats’ I knew in 8th-9th grades, though. That, fyi, was when dinasaurs were walking..
These are the best stories, and testament to the goodness of so many people. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent.
Take a well earned bow Team Rubicon
