Just linked to and listened to the interview….don’t know how you and Jake kept your cool. I couldn’t believe some of the questions he asked…..”what else can a sniper do”???? REALLY!!!! I heard the comment made about the rebels being against the govt. and how you so nicely came back with the fact that the govt. was displacing them. Good for you!! This is why I do not like NPR….his bias showed….in so many of the questions he asked, or maybe it was his ignorance of your group…..publicity is publicity wherever you can get it…..hopefully more financial contributions and volunteers will be manifested as a result of this program. You folks are just SO PROFESSIONAL and I admire your accomplishments! Keep up the great work!

I agree with Betty. This guy was baiting you and trying to be confrontational. I am surprised you didn’t focus more on the TR Transitions and how this was therapeutic for many of the volunteers. His comment “well of course you enlisted” told me where this was going.

I do like NPR – or at least some of the shows. However, I’m turned off by any interviewer in any media, be it tv, radio or print, public or private, who pretends to be one thing, butI instead has a poorly hidden agenda. And it sounds as if this guy does. If you are a pro- whatever and wish to promote your views on your show/column, fine. Folks know and can choose to listen to you – or not. In print that is the difference between an opinion columnist and a true reporter. A true reporter writes the facts, not opinions – or that used to be the case. Their personal opinions are not (supposed to be) entered into the article/show.

I find people like Leonard Lopate to be snively cowards at heart. They find self justification in attacking others. This interview was – I am supposing – supposed to be about the rescue and relief efforts of a group of wonderful men and women. Not about Lopate and his narrow outlook on the world.
