Clay Hunt Fellows Program

For Veterans Who Have More to Give—and Learn.

As a veteran-led organization, we’re no strangers to the challenges of rejoining civilian life. But we also know the exceptional decision-making, leadership, and unrelenting will to serve that lives in every veteran. This program hones those skills—and teaches many more—so you can elevate your service and yourself.

Honoring Clay Hunt.

Clay Hunt was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and original member of Team Rubicon during our initial response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Despite his own struggles with PTS, Clay was truly built to serve and did so selflessly. The entire Team Rubicon community felt the loss when Clay ultimately took his own life.

In 2012, we launched the Clay Hunt Fellows Program to honor his legacy of service and to support and lead Greyshirt veterans in achieving their personal and professional goals.

Since then, the program has evolved in countless ways, and the Fellows community is now over 225 alumni strong.

“CHFP allowed me to really focus on who I am and who I want to become. It’s challenged me in ways I didn’t think possible and I became a stronger person and leader because of it.”

Lisa Smith, U.S. Air Force veteran, Clay Hunt Fellow, & Greyshirt

  • A Focus on Veterans

By homing in on the leadership skills from military service, whether a recent exit or service from long ago, CHFP guides Fellows as they adapt to civilian life.

  • Core Values to Honor Clay

A commitment to growth. Moral integrity. Servant leadership. These three values guide our Fellows and our program.

Fellows must have a willingness to be vulnerable and embrace growth mindsets as they support others and serve the broader community.

  • Programming that Challenges

The Base Camp curriculum guides and challenges Fellows to uncover who they are and who they want to become.

Fostering opportunities for Fellows to discover their true purpose, the program’s weekly series of independent and group exercises promotes strength, discovery, and self-awareness exploration.

  • An Unlocked Support System

Throughout and beyond the program, Fellows have the support of other veterans as they continuously grow into more self-aware leaders.

This invaluable network expands with each cohort, adding to the community of like-minded Fellows.

“This is for you. CHFP is your opportunity to take a look in the mirror, love what you see, and make it better. It’s an ego check, a learning experience, and an incubator for your skills and experiences wrapped in the greatest helping-humans organization of this era. Do it.”

Jonah Thompson, U.S. Army veteran, Clay Hunt Fellow, & Greyshirt
