Los Angeles, November 8, 2012 – Team Rubicon, the veterans organization that unites the skills of military veterans with first responders for natural disaster and humanitarian crisis relief, was awarded $125,000 at the Chase American Giving Awards broadcasted on Saturday night. Team Rubicon won the “Heros & Leaders” category and was one of five charities chosen by public vote from a group of 25 previous Chase Community Giving grant recipients.

“We are so excited to be one of the five charities honored with this award. This will help us continue our mission of giving military veterans an opportunity to continue their service through disaster relief, with the ultimate goal of having a Veteran Emergency Response Team in every state” said Jake Wood, Team Rubicon co-founder and president.

The second-annual American Giving Awards is the first-ever televised celebrity tribute to recognize community heroes in a two-hour primetime special aired on NBC. The charities are categorized into five pre-determined categories recognizing the “building blocks” of our communities: Educators & Mentors, Heroes & Leaders, Champions of Health & Wellness, Community Builders, and Youth Developers.
